Taxonomy
Prionorhynchus edwardsii was named by Jacquinot (1853). It is extant. It is the type species of Jacquinotia.

It was recombined as Jacquinotia edwardsi by Feldmann and Keys (1992), Schweitzer et al. (2010); it was recombined as Jacquinotia edwardsii by Schweitzer et al. (2020).
