Taxonomy
Retropluma gallica was named by Artal et al. (2006). Its type specimen is MGSB68408, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Basal Ilerdian, Fontcouverte, Aude, which is in a Ypresian carbonate limestone in France.
