Padocatactes ujiharai was named by Karasawa (1993). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mouke Cliff, which is in a Pliocene marine siltstone in the Takanabe Formation of Japan.
It was recombined as Podocatactes ujiharai by Schweitzer et al. (2010).
