Eumorphocorystes was named by Van Binkhorst (1857) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes T Ol-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Eumorphocorystes sculptus.
It was assigned to Raninidae by Rathbun (1926), Rathbun (1932), Tucker and Feldmann (1990); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Notopodinae by Tucker (1998), Schweitzer et al. (2010), van Bakel et al. (2012), Karasawa et al. (2014), Schweitzer et al. (2018).
