Taxonomy
Euryplax was named by Stimpson (1862) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-u R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Euryplacidae.

It was assigned to Prionoplacinae by Rathbun (1918); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Euryplacinae by Karasawa and Kato (2003); and to Euryplacidae by Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer et al. (2022).
