Taxonomy
Portunites triangulum was named by Rathbun (1926). It is the type species of Maeandricampus.

It was recombined as Minohellenus triangulum by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000); it was recombined as Maeandricampus triangulum by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2002), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2012) and Feldmann et al. (2018).
