Taxonomy
Parathranites shibatai was named by Karasawa (1990). Its type specimen is MFM9032 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yamanouchi, which is in a Burdigalian shallow subtidal siltstone in the Akeyo Formation of Japan.
