Taxonomy
Graptocarcinus was named by Roemer (1887) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti K Maes-u]. It is not extant. Its type is Graptocarcinus texanus.

It was assigned to Dromiidae by Rathbun (1926); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Graptocarcininae by Beschin et al. (2016); and to Dynomenidae by Rathbun (1935), Stenzel (1944), Schweitzer et al. (2003), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2012), Luque et al. (2017).
