Leucosilia was named by Bell (1855) [Sepkoski's age data: T Mi R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Leucosiidae by Rathbun (1918); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ebaliinae by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Luque et al. (2017), Karasawa et al. (2019).
