Taxonomy
Mithracites was named by Gould (1859) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Mithracites vectensis. It is the type genus of Mithracitidae.
It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Homoloidea by Collins (2002); to Homolodromioidea by Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Mithracitidae by Feldmann et al. (2012), Luque et al. (2017).
