Taxonomy
Munida was named by Leach (1820) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani R]. It is extant. Its type is Pagurus rugosus. It is the type genus of Munididae.
It was assigned to Galatheinae by Bishop (1985), Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Galatheidae by Karasawa (1993), Martin and Davis (2001), Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Munididae by Nyborg and Garassino (2015), Schweitzer et al. (2023).
