Taxonomy

Notopocorystes was named by M'Coy (1849) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi-l K Maes-l Sepkoski's reference number: 354,961].

It was assigned to Raninidae by Rathbun (1935) and Glaessner (1980); to Ranininae by Collins and Wienberg Rasmussen (1992); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Palaeocorystinae by Tucker (1998), Collins (2002) and Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Palaeocorystidae by Karasawa et al. (2014) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).

Synonyms

Palaeocorystes was named by Bell (1863).

It was synonymized subjectively with Notopocorystes by Collins (2002) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).

It was assigned to Corystidae by Woodward (1871); and to Raninidae by Rathbun (1926).
