It was assigned to Pinnotheroidea by Karasawa (1993); to Pinnotheridae by Rathbun (1909), Schweitzer and Feldmann (1999), Schweitzer and Feldmann (2001), De Angeli and Garassino (2006); and to Varunidae by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2023).
