Taxonomy
Palaeoxanthopsis was named by Beurlen (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes]. It is not extant. Its type is Zanthopsis cretacea.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Palaeoxanthopsidae by Schweitzer (2003), Schweitzer (2005), Karasawa and Schweitzer (2006), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Luque et al. (2017), Schweitzer et al. (2018).
