Taxonomy
Raninella was named by Milne-Edwards (1862) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi-u T Pale Sepkoski's reference number: 354,961]. It is not extant. Its type is Raninella trigeri.

It was assigned to Raninidae by Rathbun (1935); to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ranininae by Schweitzer et al. (2010), van Bakel et al. (2012), Karasawa et al. (2014) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
