Taxonomy
Retrorsichela was named by Feldmann et al. (1993) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1037]. Its type is Retrorsichela laevis. It is the type genus of Retrorsichelidae.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Retrorsichelidae by Feldmann et al. (1993), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer et al. (2023).
