Sicyonia was named by Milne Edwards (1830) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sn R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Sicyoniidae.
It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sicyoniidae by Poore and Ahyong (2004), Schweitzer et al. (2010), Schweitzer et al. (2023).
