Taxonomy

Tumidocarcinus was named by Glaessner (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u T Mi-u]. Its type is Harpactocarcinus tumidus. It is the type genus of Tumidocarcinidae.

It was assigned to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002); to Xanthidae by Glaessner (1960), Feldmann and Keys (1992), Aguirre-Urreta (1995) and Feldmann et al. (2003); and to Tumidocarcinidae by Schweitzer (2005), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).

Synonyms

Leptoides was named by Collins et al. (1995) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1225].

It was synonymized subjectively with Titanocarcinus by Schweitzer et al. (2007); it was synonymized subjectively with Tumidocarcinus by Schweitzer et al. (2018).

It was assigned to Xanthidae by Collins et al. (1995); and to Decapoda by Sepkoski (2002).

Diagnosis

Reference	Diagnosis
M. F. Glaessner 1960	A genus of the Xanthidae resembhng Harpactocarcinus but differing in the strongly inflated shape of the carapace, the absence or slight development of antero-lateral marginal spines and the absence of tuberculation on the upper edge of the propodus of the cheUped. The differences from Xanthopsis are the greater length of the antero-lateral margin and the absence of elevated bosses on the carapace.
