Taxonomy
Ophthalmapseudes was named by Glaessner (1962) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-l Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 2,724]. Its type is Macrura rhenana. It is the type genus of Ophthalmapseudidae.

It was assigned to Apseudidae by Malzahn (1979); to Anthracocarididae by Schram et al. (1986); to Tanaidacea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Ophthalmapseudidae by Heard et al. (2020).
