Cyclosphaeroma was named by Woodward (1890) [Sepkoski's age data: J l J Kimm-l]. Its type is Cyclosphaeroma trilobatum.

It was assigned to Sphaeromidae by Brooks et al. (1969), Radwański (1995); and to Isopoda by Sepkoski (2002).
