Dabashanella was named by Huo et al (1983) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1006]. It is the type genus of Dabashanellidae.
It was assigned to Archaeocopida by Bengtson (1992); to Ostracoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dabashanellidae by Jones and Laurie (2006).
