Hesslandona was named by Mueller (1964) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto Cm Dres-l Sepkoski's reference number: 132,1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Hesslandonidae.
It was assigned to Ostracoda by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hesslandonidae by Maas and Waloszek (2005) and Olempska et al. (2019).
