Puffinus inceptor
Taxonomy
Puffinus inceptor was named by Wetmore (1930). Its type specimen is CAS 5223, a limb element (distal portion of right humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sharktooth Hill Bonebed, which is in a Langhian terrestrial siltstone in the Temblor Formation of California.
It was recombined as Puffinus (Puffinus) inceptor by Wetmore (1940), Wetmore (1956).
