Taxonomy
Sula stocktoni was named by Miller (1935). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dicalite Quarry, which is in a Clarendonian marine diatomite in the Valmonte Formation of California.
It was recombined as Sula (Sula) stocktoni by Wetmore (1940); it was recombined as Paleosula stocktoni by Howard (1958).
