Taxonomy
Balticella was named by Thorslund (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde-u O Cara-l Sepkoski's reference number: 855]. It is not extant. Its type is Leperditella deckeri. It is the type genus of Balticellidae, Balticelloidea.
It was assigned to Palaeocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Balticellidae by Liebau (2005), Schallreuter and Hinz-Schallreuter (2011), Mohibullah et al. (2013).
