Taxonomy
Aykhal helenae was named by Sinitshenkova (1993). Its type specimen is PIN 3838/1, a forewing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Markha River, bore 4756, Aykhal (PIN collection 3838), which is in a Gzhelian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Aykhal Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Aykhal.
