Neoagnostus felix was named by Shergold (1980). Its type specimen is CPC 15092, a cephalon/head, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Chatsworth Plains D124, which is in an Iverian open shallow subtidal grainstone in the Chatsworth Formation of Australia.
