Taxonomy
Meracantha lacustris was named by Wickham (1909). Its type specimen is YPM 222, an exoskeleton (head, thorax, elytra, legs), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Florissant, Station 11, which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
