Permoyoungiella was named by Kozur (1985) [Sepkoski's age data: P Djhu P Dora Sepkoski's reference number: 648]. Its type is Permoyoungiella bogschi.

It was assigned to Palaeocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Youngiellidae by Yuan and Crasquin-Soleau (2007).
