Taxonomy
Peishanemys testudiformis was named by Nessov (1981). Its type specimen is PIN 46335/1 (ZIN, PNT M77-3), a partial shell (plastron), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Nessovemys testudiformis by Chkhikvadze (1985).
