Adocus aksary

Osteichthyes - Testudines - Adocidae

Taxonomy
Adocus aksary was named by Nessov and Krasovskaya (1984). Its type specimen is CCMGE 10/12086, a partial shell (left peripheral 3 (in the original description the holotype was mistakenly determined as peripheral 4)), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dzharakuduk II (general), which is in a Turonian/Turonian delta plain sandstone in the Bissekty Formation of Uzbekistan.

Danilov 2009A species of Adocus that can be differentiated from other species of the genus by its smaller shell size (except A. amtgai and A. kizylkumensis), narrowed vertebral 5 (except A. bossi), overlapping of marginals onto the costals beginning with marginal 3 or 4 (except A. amtgai), narrower anterior border of the epiplastron, narrowed gulars (except A. bossi), and longer medial border of the extragular. It can also be differentiated from A. beatus by a shorter neural 6 and from A. bossi by the presence of nuchal emargination and two suprapygals. For more detailed comparison see Table 1.
