Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
V. B. Sukhanov and P. Narmandakh 2006Big turtles (shell length up to 70 cm). The carapace is rounded with a deep sutriangular nuchal emargination (its width makes up about 30% of the carapace width), restricted laterally with blunt angles of the peripherals 1. The plastron slightly projects forward behind the anterior edge of the carapace. The anterior plastral lobe is short, trapezoid, narrowing and rounded anteriorly. The epiplastra are big, strongly elongated posterolaterally. The epi-entoplastral suture is very long, whereas the interepiplastral suture is short (makes up about ¼ length of the epi-entoplastral suture). The intergular is unpaired, very wide and short. The gulars are small, removed to lateral sides of the anterior lobe and not contact at the midline. The intergular and gulars together occupy no more than 1/3 of the surface of each epiplastron. The posterior lobe is almost completely formed with xiphiplastra.
