Taxonomy
Steusloffia was named by Ulrich and Bassler (1908) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u O Cara-u Sepkoski's reference number: 2,78,855]. Its type is Strepula linnarssoni. It is the type genus of Steusloffiinae.

It was assigned to Bassleratiinae by Henningsmoen (1953); to Bassleratiidae by Benson et al. (1961); to Steusloffiinae by Meidla (1996); and to Palaeocopida by Sepkoski (2002).
