Taxonomy
Sysciophlebia hercynica was named by Scharf (1924). It is not extant. Its type locality is Ottostollen mine tip, Ilfeld, which is in an Asselian fluvial-lacustrine siliciclastic in the Netzkater Formation of Germany.
