Phyloblatta oliveirai was named by Carpenter (1930). Its type specimen is DGM-389-I, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Teixeira Soares (DGM collection), which is in an Asselian marine shale in the Taciba Formation of Brazil.
It was recombined as Anthracoblattina oliveirai by Schneider (1983).
