Dielasma zealandica was named by Trechmann (1917). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Caroline Cutting, Oreti Valley, which is in a Ladinian/Carnian marine horizon in New Zealand.
It was recombined as Fletcherina zealandica by Dagys (1965).
