Friedrichsthalia blatteri was named by Guthörl (1930). Its type specimen is Slg. d. Verf. 358, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Friedrichstal railway cut, which is in a Westphalian terrestrial horizon in Germany.
It was recombined as Phyloblatta blatteri by Waterlot (1934); it was recombined as Xenoblatta blatteri by Guthorl (1930), Schneider (1983).
