Franklinella was named by Stewart and Hendrix (1945) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u , C Vise-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1066].

It was assigned to Entomozoinae by Polenova and Zanina (1960); to Myodocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rhomboentomozoidae by Perrier et al. (2019).
