Terebra nexilis was named by Sedgwick and Murchison (1840) [Terebra nexilis Sowerby in Sedgwick & Murchison 1840]. It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Loxonema nexilis by Phillips (1841), Hall (1843), Oehlert and Oehlert (1888), Etheridge (1888); it was recombined as Loxonema nexile by Whidborne (1891); it was recombined as Palaeozygopleura nexile by Wagner (2023).
