Taxonomy

Bythocypris was named by Brady (1880) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 674]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Bairdiinae by Marianos and Valentine (1958); to Bythocypridinae by Hazel and Holden (1971); to Bairdiidae by Bertels (1968), Bertels (1973), Bertels (1975), Ballent (1998); to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Bythocyprididae by Blaszyk (1987), Babinot and Colin (2011), Yamaguchi et al. (2016), Forel (2017).
