Henryhowella was named by Puri (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-m R Sepkoski's reference number: 929]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); to Trachyleberidinae by Bertels (1975), Ceolin et al. (2015); and to Trachyleberididae by Guernet and Moullade (1994), Bergue and Govindan (2010), Yamaguchi et al. (2016), Ceolin et al. (2024).
