Taxonomy
Hermanites was named by Puri (1955) [Sepkoski's age data: K Sant R Sepkoski's reference number: 171]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Thaerocytherinae by Bertels (1969); to Thaerocytherini by Hazel (1983), Carreño and Cronin (1993); to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hemicytheridae by Yamaguchi et al. (2016).
