Taxonomy
Pseudagnostus clavus was named by Shergold (1971). Its type specimen is CPC 8452, a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gola Beds B750, which is in a Franconian/Trempealeauan marine lime mudstone in Australia.
It was recombined as Neoagnostus clavus by Shergold (1977).
