Manon mammillaris was named by King (1848). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Humbleton Hill quarry, shell-limestone, Durham, which is in a Wuchiapingian carbonate grainstone in the Ford Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Mammillopora mammillaris by King (1850), Geinitz (1861).
