Taxonomy
Monoceratella was named by Teichert (1937) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llde S Wenl Sepkoski's reference number: 78]. It is not extant. Its type is Monoceratella teres.

It was assigned to Acronotellidae by Henningsmoen (1953); to Podocopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Balticellidae by Mohibullah et al. (2013).
