Taxonomy
Emys pravus was named by Leidy (1856). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tinton Falls (Greensand), which is in a Maastrichtian marine sandstone in the Hornerstown Formation of New Jersey.

It was recombined as Adocus pravus by Cope (1870), Hay (1902), Hay (1908), Hay (1930).
