Nodobairdia was named by Kollmann (1963) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi Tr Carn-u Sepkoski's reference number: ZR85]. Its type is Nodobairdia mammilata.

It was reranked as Triebelina (Nodobairdia) by Bolz (1971).
