Taxonomy
Pholidophorus hastingsiae was named by Agassiz (1843). Its type specimen is BMNH P.3594, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Barrow-on-Soar, Enniskillen collection, which is in a Planorbis marine limestone in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Eugnathus hastingsiae by Woodward (1895).
