Taxonomy
Pachycormus latipennis was named by Agassiz (1843). Its type specimen is BMNH P568, a partial skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Lyme Regis, Enniskillen collection, which is in a Sinemurian marine horizon in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Caturus latipennis by Woodward (1895).
