Taxonomy
Microraptor hanqingi was named by Gong et al. (2012). Its type specimen is LVH 0026, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Microraptor hanqingi type (PROXY), which is in an Aptian lacustrine shale in the Jiufotang Formation of China.
